Job Description
Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Housekeeping Lead Hand, the Housekeeper/Cleaner ensures all front and back areas of the casino are clean and maintained. They promote and maintain a positive image of the Casino to guests and colleagues. The Housekeeper/Cleaner must ensure their work is done to the highest standards in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, and Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission (AGLC) terms and conditions.
They must be aware of and able to work in a smoking environment. The position requires shift work (days, evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays) with hours from 10:30 pm to 07:00 am.
- Reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor and Housekeeping Lead Hand.
- Promote and maintain the utmost integrity and the highest standard of customer service and respect to all guests, colleagues and casino personnel.
- Communicate via two-way radio with the rest of the Casino.
- Duties include cleaning washrooms, carpet shampooing, garbage removal, vacuuming, waxing and striping floors, ashtray cleaning, dusting, wiping machines and using Universal Precaution Protocol for biohazard clean‑up.
- Ensure all assigned cleaning duties for each shift are complete, signed off and turned in.
- Report any issues of defective equipment or protective devices to Supervisor or Lead Hand.
- Use and wear required protective equipment and comply with Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and internal health and safety policies.
- Adhere to WHMIS at all times.
- Attend required training programs.
- May be assigned additional responsibilities or duties at the discretion of the department.
- High school diploma or work‑related equivalent.
- Previous cleaning experience is an asset.
- Working knowledge of floor machines and related equipment.
- Experience with WHMIS and biohazard clean‑up is an asset.
- Ability to stand for long periods, work in a physically demanding area, and handle a high‑volume, fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 55 lbs and handle repetitive movement.
- Ability to work in a team‑oriented environment and independently.
- Strong attention to detail and responsibility for actions.
- Ability to mentor and train new staff.
- Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
- Priority will be given to Tsuut'ina Nation members.
