Position Overview
Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Housekeeping Lead Hand, the Housekeeper/Cleaner ensures all front and back areas of the casino are clean and maintained. They promote and maintain a positive image of the Casino to guests and colleagues. The Housekeeper/Cleaner ensures work is done to the highest standards, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, and Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission (AGLC) terms and conditions.
The Housekeeper/Cleaner must be aware of and able to work in a smoking environment.
Shift schedule: 10:30pm-07:00am. Must be available for shift work (days, evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays).
Responsibilities- Reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor, and Housekeeping Lead Hand.
- Promote and maintain the utmost integrity and the highest standard of customer service and respect to all guests, colleagues and casino personnel.
- Radio communication with the rest of the Casino via two-way radio.
- Duties include cleaning washrooms, carpet shampooing, garbage removal, vacuuming, waxing and striping floors, ashtray cleaning, dusting, wiping machines and using Universal Precaution Protocol for biohazard clean-up (sharps, throw-up, and/or other bodily fluids).
- Ensure all assigned cleaning duties for the afternoon shift is complete, signed off and turned in.
- Report any issues of defective equipment and protective device to Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Housekeeping Lead Hand.
- Use and wear the equipment, protective devices, or clothing required by the Casino and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), regulations as well as internal health and safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to WHMIS at all times.
- Attend training programs when required.
- At the discretion of the department and based on Casino needs, assignment of additional responsibilities or duties.
- High school diploma or work-related equivalent.
- Previous cleaning experience is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of floor machines (and any other relevant equipment).
- WHMIS and Biohazard Clean up experience is an asset.
- Ability to stand for long periods, work in a physically demanding area, and be familiar with a high-volume, fast-paced and multi-tasking environment.
- Ability to lift and lift weight of up to approximately 55 lbs, and handling repetitive movement is required.
- Ability to work and thrive in a team-oriented environment, and to work independently.
- Ability to take responsibility for actions and consistently pay attention to detail.
- Ability to mentor and train new staff.
- Must be aware of and able to work in a smoking environment.
Priority will be given to Tsuut'ina Nation members.
