A very successful and growing Real Estate Developer and Manager in central Calgary is seeking a Payroll & Human Resources Specialist to join the team.
Your new role
Hospitality Recruitment & Onboarding• Support hiring — prepare job postings, screen candidates, schedule interviews, and coordinate offers — in collaboration with department heads
• New hire onboarding, including employment agreements, policies, and orientation coordination
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee files and HRIS records
• Assist with performance review administration
Payroll & Timekeeping Support
• Process bi-weekly pay according to hours worked incorporating leaves, overtime, vacation pay, statutory holidays, payroll deductions and other payroll transactions.
• Assist with timekeeping processes and reconciliation of hours worked across hotel departments
• Ensurepliance with Alberta and federal employment standards, including record‑keeping and reporting
• Entry and maintenance of employee data, including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and role changes in Payworks
• Roll out thepany’s benefits program; ensure employees are onboarded; manage their enrolment and renewal.
• Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, year‑end activities (e.g., T4 preparation support) and filing ROEs.Foreign Workers & Immigration Coordination
• Assist with documentation for work permits, LMIA‑supported roles (where applicable), and employerpliance requirements
• Prepare employment verification letters and supporting documentation for employees pursuing Canadian permanent residence
• Track work permit expiry dates and coordinate reminders with leadership and external advisors
• Maintain accurate records to support IRCC and employmentpliance requirements
What you'll need to succeed
• 2–5 years of experience in an HR or Payroll Coordinator role, preferably within hospitality or hotels• Hands‑on experience supporting hourly, operational, and multi‑department teams
• Experience working with foreign workers or employees on work permits / permanent residence pathways
• Working knowledge of Canadian payroll practices and employment standards (Alberta preferred)
• Experience with HRIS, timekeeping, and payroll systems (e.g., Payworks or similar)
• Post‑secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
• WCBpliance for all Alberta Personal attributes:
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in payroll processing and employee records

• Clear, professionalmunicator with frontline employees and leadership teams
• Discreet and trusted with confidential information
• Practical, solutions‑oriented approach with a service mindset
• Ability to build strong working relationships across hotel departments and head office
