SAP Functional Analyst - HCM Payroll /Success Factors
Employment Type:
Full-Time PERM position or Contract to Hire
Location: Calgary, /hybrid on-site at client site on a hybrid schedule (3 days on 2 days off).

Job Summary:
- Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Enterprise Solutions
, the Applications Functional Analyst III is responsible for ensuring stable, accurate, and compliant HR operations through expert support of SAP HCM Payroll, Organizational Management, Personnel Administration, and Time Management. - This role serves as the primary functional specialist for SAP HCM Payroll
, including configuration, troubleshooting, testing, year?end preparation, and continuous improvement. - In addition to SAP HCM, the analyst provides a secondary level of functional support for SAP Success Factors modules
, including Employee Central, Recruiting, and Onboarding
, ensuring alignment with core HR processes, data integrity, and integration to SAP HCM. - The role collaborates closely with HR, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, IT, and external partners to deliver enhancements, support projects, maintain integrations, and translate business requirements into system solutions that meet enterprise architecture and governance standards.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in HR, IT, Business, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in SAP HCM, including Payroll, PA/OM, and Time Management.
- Strong experience configuring SAP HR modules and understanding HCM integration points (SD, MM, FICO, BI).
- Experience with 3rd party HR/payroll integrations (Kronos, ADP, Silkroad, Greenlight).
Responsibilities:
- Configure and support SAP HCM Payroll, Organizational Management, Personnel Administration, and Time Management as the primary subject matter expert.
- Develop and maintain payroll schemas, PCRs, wage types, tax models, deductions, off?cycle processes, and time evaluation rules.
- Ensure payroll accuracy by performing root cause analysis on payroll discrepancies, retroactive errors, time evaluation issues, and data inconsistencies.
- Support the full payroll lifecycle including pre-payroll validation, simulation, production payroll, posting to Finance, and yearend processes.
- Serve as the Tier3 functional escalation point for HR, Payroll, and Time,related incidents; troubleshoot complex issues.
- Maintain configuration documentation, design documents, and traceability matrices.
- Participate in or lead testing cycles (unit, regression, user acceptance) to validate HCM configuration, interfaces, and custom developments.
- Conduct fit-gap analysis against the existing HCM configuration baseline and recommend process enhancements.
- Support integration of SAP HCM with other modules and systems such as FI/CO, Time & Attendance systems, and external HR platforms (e.g., Kronos, ADP, Greenlight, Silkroad).
- Liaise with technical teams for interface changes, data migration, ABAP enhancements, and reporting requirements.
- Assist with configuration and support of EC foundation objects, business rules, workflows, and organizational data alignment with SAP HCM.
- Validate the accuracy of master data replication between EC and SAP HCM Payroll.
- Support Talent Acquisition and HR Operations teams with Recruiting Management (RCM) and Onboarding (2.0) configurations, templates, and workflow updates.
- Monitor data flow from SF Recruiting , Onboarding , EC, SAP HCM to ensure clean, timely hiring and onboarding processes.
- Collaborate with integration teams to ensure consistent and reliable data flows between Success Factors and SAP HCM (e.g., via CPI, SFTP, IDocs, BIB).
- Troubleshoot data synchronization issues and support release updates.
- Engage HR, Payroll, and Talent teams to capture business requirements and translate them into functional specifications compliant with enterprise architecture.
- Propose system enhancements, process improvements, and configuration changes aligned with HR strategies and operational needs.
- Collaborate with cross?functional analysts to manage impacts across HR, Payroll, Finance, Security, and IT.
- Lead or support HRIS projects involving SAP HCM, Success Factors, upgrades, and HR transformations.
- Support S/4
HANA readiness activities for HCM-related work streams. - Contribute to solution design, testing, data migration, and deployment activities across HR systems.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including configuration guides, functional specifications, and SOPs.
- Provide training, knowledge transfer, and release impact reviews to HR, Payroll, and Talent teams.
- Support user acceptance testing and assist in preparing test scripts and training materials.
Must have Work Authorization for Canada.
