About the Role
We are seeking an HR Advisor or Generalist to provide proactive HR consultation, recommendations, and services to leaders across our provincial healthcare organization. The role requires independent work and collaboration with HR Specialists, Centres of Expertise, and union representatives.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure HR values, goals, and principles are implemented and integrated into the delivery of HR services for all leaders, employees, physicians, and volunteers.
- Advise, coordinate, coach, and provide recommendations on a variety of human resource functions and related operations for both unionized and non‑union employee work forces.
- Interpret and apply collective agreements, labour relations, performance management, ability management, grievance management, investigations, and conflict resolution.
- Provide consultation on talent management, job classification, compensation, and other related HR tasks, duties and responsibilities.
- Support workforce initiatives and people‑management initiatives, including investigations, performance management, grievances, and conflict resolution.
- Interpret client needs, assess requirements, and identify solutions to non‑standard issues and requests, including engagement of HR specialists as required.
- Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with team members, operational leaders, HR networks, Centres of Expertise, and Union Representatives.
- Prioritize and multitask effectively while working independently and in collaboration with others in a fast‑paced, progressive environment.
- Post‑secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum two years’ experience in an HR Advisor, Consultant, or Generalist position (a combination of experience and education may be considered).
- Strong understanding of employee and labour relations, performance management, ability management, grievance management, and interpretation of collective agreements.
- Proven track record of fostering and maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with team members, operational leaders, HR networks, Centres of Expertise, and Union Representatives.
- Effective communicator with strong analytical, organisational, and influential skills, client‑focused orientation, and a commitment to providing quality services.
- Leadership ability, decision‑making responsibility, coaching skills, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
- Comfortable facilitating change and managing ambiguity.
- Experience managing projects of varying scope, magnitude, and significance.
- Demonstrated experience in HR generalist duties including performance management, labour relations, policy interpretation, Human Rights Legislation, and investigations.
- CPHR or another recognized designation is an asset.
- Healthcare and/or union environment experience is an asset.
