Key Responsibilities
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll, including year-end activities.
Oversee post-payroll responsibilities, including statutory remittances, third-party payments, reconciliations, reporting, and general ledger support.
Support and optimize payroll system functionality, including:
Participating in requirements gathering and configuration updates
Assisting with report development, workflows, and payroll-related system enhancements
Supporting testing protocols and implementation activities
Coordinating access and support with internal stakeholders and external vendors
Lead, mentor, and support payroll team members through training, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiencies, and automation.
Assist with benefits administration, disability management, and collaboration with internal HR and external service providers.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders on projects, reporting requests, payroll analytics, and audit support.
Participate in internal controls processes and financial or compliance audits.
Qualifications
Payroll certification required.
Minimum 5 years of experience processing full-cycle Canadian payroll.
At least 2 years of experience in a senior payroll, lead, or subject matter expert capacity.
Experience working with HRIS/payroll systems in a configuration, support, or implementation environment is required.
Experience in high-volume, multi-cycle payroll environments is considered an asset.
Accounting or payroll reconciliation experience is an asset.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
