Position: Human Resources (HR) Generalist

Human Resources (HR) Generalist

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the HR Generalist will execute on HR priorities across the company and its portfolio of hotels across Canada and provide day-to-day support to all team members. Additionally, the HR Generalist will collect and analyze data to monitor, measure, and improve key HR metrics. The HR Generalist will support both English- and French-speaking team members within the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

HR Initiatives / Support

  • Act as the main point of contact for employees and managers in all routine functions of HR department, including but not limited to onboarding, recruitment, performance and development, employee separation and employee record keeping
  • Support in providing guidance to employees on compensation, benefits and perks, and payroll
  • Execute initiatives for all HR functions, including employee engagement, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, health and safety / wellness, employee relations, training and development, employee separation, HR administration and reporting
  • Develop and implement documented processes, policies and procedures to support HR functions, as well as changes to processes
  • Ensure HR practices are compliant with relevant legislative requirements and company core values, maintaining current knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Participate in succession management and workforce planning, providing guidance to leaders in analyzing open positions to balance the development of existing talent and business needs
  • Provide guidance and advice on the impact of relevant legislation, employment standards and best work practices.
  • Build strong, collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work alongside leaders to resolve conflict and manage employee relations issues, escalating to the Director, Human Resources as needed
  • Coordinate and/or support workplace investigations as needed
  • Ensure accurate management of HRIS system BambooHR, including managing and administering employee changes
  • Prepare documentation as needed, including employment agreements, offer letters, confirmation of employment in English and French
  • Plan, draft, and distribute internal communication, including team social media groups events calendar, announcements, etc.
  • Ensure reporting, documentation and administrative requirements are completed in a timely manner
  • Conduct annual HR audits

Data Analysis

  • Collect and compile HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS) and payroll outputs, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, employment records, government and/or industry statistics, practices, and other sources.
  • Compile reports of HR data results.
  • Create and maintain reporting dashboards to enable the analysis of HR data
  • Report on key HR metrics and analytics to identify opportunities for performance outcome or cost control
  • Conduct employee file reviews and audits to ensure record keeping is current and up to data.

Health and Safety

  • Act as an Employer Representative for the corporate Health and Safety Committee (HSC)
  • Alongside the HSC, maintain the corporate health and safety program
  • Assist in the development of health and safety programs, policies and procedures for corporate and hotel operations

Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive HR experience
  • Previous experience working in franchise setting supporting multiple groups
  • Previous experience working in an administrative role for a medium to large organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cross-provincial employment standards, human rights, OHS and privacy legislation
