Director of Human ResourcesRPI Executive Search has partnered with an international industrial services organization in their search for a Director of Human Resources, based in Calgary to provide strategic HR leadership, drive organizational effectiveness, and support the execution of key business priorities across a complex, multi-site organization. The Director of Human Resources will lead the development and execution of medium and long term HR strategies focused on talent acquisition,
employee engagement, retention, labour relations, compensation,
leadership development, performance management, and organizational effectiveness.
This individual will play a key role in driving change initiatives, supporting organizational growth, and fostering a high-performance culture.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Lead the development and execution of HR strategies aligned with organizational and operational objectivesServe as a trusted advisor to operational and corporate leaders on people, culture, and workforce mattersOversee employee engagement and retention initiatives to support a positive employee experienceProvide strategic guidance on complex labour relations matters, including collective bargaining preparation and unionized workforce considerationsPartner with business leaders to drive organizational change, workforce planning, and talent initiativesContribute to the design and implementation of performance management, leadership development, and coaching programsSupport the development and execution of competitive total rewards strategies that attract and retain top talentMonitor workforce trends, employee feedback, and key HR metrics to inform decision-making and continuous improvementLead and mentor HR team members while fostering collaboration across multiple stakeholder groupsDrive the successful execution of cross-functional projects and strategic HR initiatives with broad organizational impactCandidate ExperienceWhile no individual will embody every quality, the successful candidate will bring many of the following professional qualifications and personal competencies:
8+ years of progressively senior Human Resources leadership experiencePost-secondary education combined with a recognized HR designation or equivalent certificationStrong background in labour relations, including experience supporting unionized environmentsExperience leading broad HR generalist functions within complex, multi-stakeholder organizationsExposure to organizational change initiatives, business transformation, acquisitions, or integration activities is considered an assetDemonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on executionStrong knowledge of employment legislation, human rights requirements, and workplace best practicesExcellent communication, influencing, negotiation, and relationship-building skillsProven ability to lead through change and drive organizational alignment across diverse stakeholder groupsHighly organized with strong project management skills and a track record of delivering results in fast-paced environmentsLocationCalgary, AB. This role requires regular travel throughout Western Canada.
