** The Opportunity
** This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing legal team supporting one of Canada’s premier infrastructure projects, the Coastal Gas Link Pipeline Project. The position will provide senior commercial legal support, working closely with the project and the business.  The Candidate is expected to lead pieces of work in coordination with the broader team. This position will report to the Director, Coastal Gas Link Law.
** What you'll do
*** Provide legal support and strategic advice on commercial matters
* Provide legal support in connection with commercial and operational agreements, including natural gas transportation agreements, construction and development agreements, letters of intent, term sheets, facility and interconnect agreements, credit support agreements and confidentiality agreements
* Provide legal support in connection with transactional matters, including governance of partnerships and structured transactions
* Provide legal support for business development initiatives
* Coordinate legal support with other internal legal departments and the Canada Gas organization more broadly
* Coordinate with legal representatives of key stakeholders to support a complex project
* Supervise external legal counsel if required and within approved budget limits
* Monitor and advise with respect to legal and industry developments.
** Minimum Qualifications
*** Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
* Active license to practice law in Canada (Alberta or BC preferred)
* 10 years of legal experience
* Demonstrated expertise within legal discipline
* Strong collaboration and communication skills
** Preferred Qualifications
*** Experience handling transactional matters in the energy sector
* Experience providing legal support for supply chain matters an asset
* Knowledge of the natural gas pipeline business
* Ability to analyze complex matters and propose creative and practical solutions that demonstrate an understanding of financial drivers and business operations
* Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively and support multiple clients
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment
* ability to advise senior management and lead complex legal matters
* Ability to coordinate issues with other legal and business functions
* Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools in legal context
* Limited travel may be required.
