Role OverviewOur Calgary office is currently seeking an experienced paralegal to work with the Corporate Services team, reporting to the Manager, Corporate Services, Calgary. The ideal candidate will be an organized and eager professional who possesses great customer service skills and a strong work ethic.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:- Preparing and filing of substantive legal documentation for Alberta and Federal corporations, including, but not limited to in corporations, amalgamations, continuances, dissolutions, reorganizations and amendments.
- Preparing and filing of documents related to business name registrations, partnership and limited partnership registrations and extra-provincial registrations.
- Conducting minute book reviews, including identifying issues and deficiencies and drafting rectification documentation.
- Providing support on corporate transactional work, including drafting of closing agendas and transactional documentation.
- Updating and maintaining the corporate records database and minute books.
- Interfacing directly with lawyers on client matters.
- Communicating with clients as required and managing client relationships.
- Interacting with and maintaining strong relationships with external parties (including government agencies, vendors and agents).
- Providing general assistance as required.
- CORES III accreditation
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a Corporate Paralegal.
- Paralegal accreditation or university degree.
- Possess a broad foundation of legal concepts, experience and applications relevant to the practice of corporate law, including extensive knowledge of the Business Corporations Act (Alberta) and the Canada Business Corporations Act.
- Experience with docketing time for legal services (familiarity with iTimeKeep or 3E an asset).
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Experience with corporate data management cloud-based software (preferably Athennian) a strong asset.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize workload in a busy environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
Permanent, Full-Time (4-days in office)
Salary Range$85,000 - $95,000 Annually
