We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our Calgary office. This role is well suited to someone who takes ownership of their work, manages competing priorities with confidence, and provides proactive, high-quality support to legal professionals working on complex and varied matters.
Primary responsibilities- Manage and prioritize workflow for assigned legal professionals, ensuring timely follow-up and execution.
- Monitor email communications and maintain calendars, including scheduling meetings, coordinating logistics, and preparing supporting materials.
- Provide day-to-day administrative support, including organizing client meetings, managing file logistics, and supporting time entry and billing-related administrative processes.
- Assist with file opening, maintenance, and closing in accordance with firm procedures.
- Draft, format, finalize, and distribute correspondence and legal documents.
- Coordinate document production and assist with complex file management.
- Act as a point of contact for clients and internal or external stakeholders, including responding to inquiries and supporting audit or information requests.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities, with strong priority management and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and sound judgment when handling competing demands.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to anticipate needs, work independently, and support legal professionals effectively.
- Experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department (strong asset).
- Knowledge of iManage document‑management software (asset).
