The organization employs family‑centred, strength‑based services to ensure that children grow and develop in stable, healthy, and safe living environments. In instances where families experience separation, Closer to Home provides a supportive home for children and youth, along with therapeutic services to facilitate permanence – the ultimate objective;

through family reunification, kinship or supportive transitions to adulthood.

Closer to Home is seeking a purposeful and values‑driven Chief Executive Officer  to advance strategic priorities, elevate program excellence, and expand CTH’s impact through strong partnerships. This leader will nurture an inclusive, collaborative culture and ensure responsiveness and sustainability for children, youth, and families.

The CEO provides visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to deliver high‑quality services to individuals and communities in need. The CEO works closely with and reports to the Board of Directors for the strategic leadership and, where required, operational management necessary to achieve the goals of Closer to Home.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement CTH’s strategic plan in alignment with its mission, vision, and values.

Champion and model CTH’s core values, ensuring they are embedded in every aspect of the business.

Relationship Building

Build and nurture strong, collaborative relationships grounded in mutual respect, trust, empathy, transparency, and cultural sensitivity.

Represent the Agency’s mission, vision, and priorities to diverse audiences, both internally and externally.

Governance and Board Relations

Serve as the primary liaison between the executive team and the Board of Directors, ensuring open, transparent, and timely communication on risk, strategic, financial, and, where required, operational matters.

Support effective governance practices and collaborate closely with the Board to develop and implement organizational strategy.

Ensure the Agency’s financial stability by exercising strong fiscal planning, management, and oversight of CTH’s finances.

Oversee fundraising initiatives, secure grants, and maintain relationships with donors, government agencies, and corporate partners.

Program and Service Delivery

Provide strategic direction to ensure all programs and services are aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities, including Closer to Home’s commitment to the Teaching Family Model.

Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs that meet the evolving needs of clients, communities, and stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a strategic, visionary, and collaborative leader who inspires teams, builds stakeholder relationships, and drives the organization’s mission forward. They are passionate about empowering children, youth, and families, and bring integrity, adaptability, innovation, and accountability to an inclusive community.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Business, or a related field.

A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in the not‑for‑profit sector.
