In this pivotal position, you will lead a team, ensuring high standards of animal care and welfare while fostering a collaborative environment. Your 9 years of experience, including 6 years in accredited facilities, will be crucial in mentoring staff and implementing animal welfare assessments. You'll work closely with the Animal Care Manager to enhance operational efficiency and engage with various conservation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement strategic plans for your designated area
• Mentor staff in animal care practices and welfare
• Make data-driven decisions on habitat modifications
• Lead safety training and ensure compliance
• Coordinate staff training programs for professional growth
Requirements:
• 9+ years of animal care experience in zoos
• Minimum 3 years in a leadership role
• Bachelor's in biology, zoology, or ecology preferred
• Class 5 Alberta Driver's license required
• Strong knowledge of AZA standards and conservation practices
