Job Description

As the Commercial Manager you will be involved in:

Commercial Strategy:

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with project objectives and client requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project profitability and cost efficiency.
  • Support business decisions through financial and commercial analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, governance frameworks, and delegated authorities.
  • Contract Management:

  • Lead the preparation, review, negotiation, and administration of contracts.
  • Oversee administration of major contracts, subcontracts, and supplier agreements; ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Ensure contractual obligations are clearly understood and appropriately managed.
  • Risk & Claims Management:

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks; lead claims preparation, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
  • Coordinate with legal advisors where required.
  • Assess contractual, financial, operational, and market risks.
  • Implement mitigation strategies to reduce project exposure.
  • Provide commercial input into project risk reviews.
  • Financial Oversight:

  • Support cost forecasting, cash flow management, and commercial reporting in collaboration with finance and project controls teams.
  • Analyze cost trends and recommend corrective actions
  • Review cost reports, commitments, accruals, and forecasts
  • Change Management:

  • Manage commercial impacts of scope changes and variations; maintain rigorous change control processes.
  • Procurement and Supply Chain Support

  • Collaborate with procurement teams on sourcing and contracting strategies.
  • Participate in tender evaluations and commercial assessments.
  • Review commercial terms and conditions of supplier agreements.
  • Support vendor negotiations and contract awards.
  • Monitor supplier commercial performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary commercial interface with clients, partners, and regulatory bodies; provide executive-level reporting.
  • Support negotiations with key stakeholders.
  • Provide commercial guidance to project leadership and functional teams
  • Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of contract administrators, quantity surveyors, and commercial managers.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Engineering, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years in commercial management for large-scale infrastructure or real estate projects
  • Proven track record in contract negotiation, claims management, and dispute resolution on projects exceeding $1B.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement strategies, and commercial risk management.
  • Familiarity with NEC, FIDIC, or similar contract frameworks.
  • Strong experience with EPC, EPCM, construction, and mining services contracts
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working in remote environments is preferred.
