Purpose

The Technical Director for Functional Safety Implementation within the Autonomous Operations Business will report to the Director Autonomous Operations, Americas and is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of Functional Safety within the Autonomous Operations business. This includes aligning the strategic direction for the business, pursuing and winning work, managing resources, managing a team of technical resources with expertise in all aspects of autonomous and automated projects throughout the Americas.

The Technical Director will be responsible for a vertical P&L through successful project delivery and operational area, building regional multi‑discipline, and appropriately skilled delivery teams, and creating a culture of continuous improvement. Strong profit management and growth, Operational Excellence, team building capacity, talent development, client and market focus to drive increased sales, collaborating with wider Worley Consulting and Base Business to develop integrated offerings will be required.

This role covers US, Canada, and LATAM business.

Overall Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities
  • Work with the Regional leadership and Digital COE to adopt and deploy vision and strategy in key markets.
  • Building the vision of Functional Safety as a Center of Excellence in the marketplace by building and marketing best practices, recognition in the industry and key customer partnerships.
  • Manage a team with a focus on profitable growth targets, talent development, and capability growth.
  • Drive customer and market focus towards increased sales with growth targets. Strong doer / seller is critical to the growth and success of your team.
  • Collaborate and develop integrated offerings with Worley Consulting.
  • Deliver short to mid‑term complex digital customer engagements, typically of multiple week duration, that may involve identification of user requirements, solutioning, implementation, change management, value realization and potential involvement of other digital practices and/or other Worley Consulting practices.
  • Lead and manage teams of varying size depending on scope, including a mix of full‑time employees, contractors and global workshare team to successfully execute the above activities and achieve targets.
  • Close deals through customer engagement, navigating the client decision‑making process, engaging decision‑makers and influencers, and overseeing and preparing proposals and contracts.
  • Account for specific success metrics, including sales targets, sales and project process compliance and practice profit targets. Identify alternative commercial models to meet customer needs and improve Worley's financial position.
  • Assist with sales pursuits, including sales meetings attendance, responding to RFP and conducting short engagements to frame a client’s problem statement, plan and sell an engagement, develop initial client relationships, and demonstrate credibility.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in all aspects and actively look for opportunities to digitally enable how the practice operates.
  • Attract, retain and develop talent.
  • Travel up to 20‑25% as required for various field programs, sales support, and team management.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience delivering projects involving application of Advanced Automation technologies in Functional Safety and developing and integrating multi‑technology solutions.
  • Industry experience as an owner vendor, system integrator in one or more of the key verticals (O&G, Refining or Chemical, etc.) is a requirement.
