Scope and Responsibilities

The Vice President of Finance at Ambrose University is responsible for overseeing financial stewardship, including business planning, accounting, payroll, and budgeting. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Operations, the Vice President works closely with senior leadership and the Board to ensure Ambrose's financial health, aligning finance strategies with the university’s mission. Key duties include strategic financial planning, risk management, compliance, and internal controls.

The Vice President prepares and analyzes financial reports, manages audits, coordinates budgeting, oversees investments, and handles endowment and donation stewardship. Additionally, they develop KPIs and foster a high-performance culture, ensuring continuous growth and professional development for their team.

The Vice President role at Ambrose University is inherently relational, requiring a proactive approach to building and sustaining strong, trust-based relationships across all levels of the organization. Success in this role is closely tied to the Vice President’s dedication and energy in establishing and nurturing collaborative relationships with colleagues, senior leadership, board members, and external partners.

Education
  • Must be a Chartered Professional Accountant.
  • At a minimum, a Bachelor’s or equivalent in Accounting or Finance
  • Professional accounting certification, CPA, CA, CMA, CGA
Experience
  • 7-10 years of progressive accounting experiences:
    Possesses substantial experience in accounting, with a strong track record of progressively responsible roles, ideally within both non-profit and educational settings. Brings deep knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations.
  • 3+ Years in a Leadership Role Overseeing an Accounting Function:
    Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams, including managing financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and audit processes. Skilled in implementing strategic initiatives, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment, and driving continuous process improvements
