About The Role

The Team Lead, Volunteer Services provides operational leadership and oversight for Bethany's Volunteer Services program across multiple sites. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Team Lead is responsible for leading a team of Volunteer Coordinators, ensuring consistent volunteer practices, supporting program excellence, and fostering meaningful volunteer engagement that enhances the quality of life for residents and tenants. This position provides leadership in volunteer recruitment, onboarding, development, recognition, program evaluation, policy implementation, and continuous improvement.

The Team Lead collaborates with operational leaders and community partners to ensure volunteer services are responsive to organizational needs while creating an exceptional volunteer experience aligned with Bethany's mission and values.

What You Will Do
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and support a team of Volunteer Coordinators across multiple Bethany sites.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team through regular coaching, communication, performance management, and professional development.
  • Provide leadership across the complete volunteer lifecycle, including recruitment, screening, onboarding, placement, engagement, recognition, and offboarding.
  • Partner with operational leaders to develop volunteer opportunities that enhance the resident, tenant, and family experience.
  • Ensure consistent volunteer practices, service delivery, and program standards across the organization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance volunteer engagement, and strengthen program effectiveness through data, feedback, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee volunteer records, reporting, scheduling, and management systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers, leaders, community organizations, educational institutions, and external partners.
  • Represent Volunteer Services at organizational initiatives, community events, and internal committees.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, accreditation standards, organizational policies, occupational health and safety requirements, confidentiality, infection prevention and control practices, and volunteer screening requirements.
  • Support organizational risk management, emergency preparedness, and business continuity initiatives as required.
What You Bring
  • Education & Experience:

    Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Volunteer Management, Recreation, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or another related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum three to five years of progressive experience leading volunteer programs, community engagement initiatives, or related services.
  • Previous experience leading, coaching, and developing employees or teams.
  • Experience working within healthcare, continuing care, seniors' services, not-for-profit, or a similarly complex service environment is considered an asset.

  • An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and volunteer management or HR information systems.
  • Committed to providing exceptional service while demonstrating professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion.
