Working days will be on Mondays to Friday from 08:30 to 16:30, flexibility may be required., totaling 37.5 hours per week.

Program SummaryThe Calgary Alternative Residential Services (CARS) program assists individuals with developmental disabilities to become more independent through skill acquisition, empowerment and full inclusion in society, thus improving their quality of life. The CARS program focuses on ‘person-centered planning’ – people supporting people – based on the individual’s needs. Through a self-directed process, the individual will be assisted in identifying areas of support that are important to them and will contribute towards their personal goals.
Job SummaryThe Calgary Alternative Residential Services (CARS) Assistant Program Manager will support the Program Manager with program management roles and responsibilities. The Assistant Program Manager will ensure the effective administration and implementation of services in the CARS Program. This will be done in accordance with Calgary Alternative Support Services (CASS) philosophies, policies and procedures, and the outcomes and expectations of our funders and clientele.
The Assistant Program Manager promotes administrative effectiveness of the program through development, evaluation and monitoring of administrative items such as client documentation, HR tasks, and training and operations manuals. The incumbent will address administrative issues which are essential to the program’s operations through performance management practices in collaboration with the Program Manager.
The Assistant Program Manager will assist the Program Manager in the day-to-day operations of the program through the support, collaboration, and supervision of the CARS team. The Assistant Program Manager will ensure consistency within program practices and alignment with best practices and becomes acting designate when the Program Manager is unavailable. Additionally, they are responsible for monitoring services under the Disability Innovation Grants (Dis Inno).
Key Responsibilities- Review intake referrals, complete expression of interests, conduct intake meetings and prepare or review budget templates and funding requests
- Ensure program services are aligned with client needs and abilities and make decisions about required changes or transitions in collaboration with the Program Manager
- Ensure quality of service delivery model benefits clients in a meaningful way
- Advocate for appropriate and creative supports for clients
- Encourage interdisciplinary supports
- Review client support satisfaction surveys and other relevant information to evaluate and investigate ways to improve service delivery for all clients in the program
- Oversight of services provided under the Disability Innovation Grants (Dis Inno) funded clients, including completion of all narrative reporting requirements on a quarterly basis
- Ensure program’s adherence to agency policies and procedures, and overall agency initiatives
- Support and collaborate with CARS Program Manager to assist with the supervision of the team of Community Support Coordinators, Relief Supervisor and Assistant roles
- Direct supervision of contractors hired to support Dis Inno clients
- Communicate expectations, assignments and responsibilities to program staff clearly and professionally
- Provide leadership, direction, and problem- solving assistance related to program and services
- Mentor, teach and train program staff as needed
