The Project Manager, Space Capital Projects provides dedicated project management expertise within Water Services to support the Space Planning and Project Delivery portfolio and deliver administrative space-related capital projects. The role coordinates projects involving space upgrades, reconfigurations, and implementation of new space concepts to ensure alignment with operational requirements, workforce needs, and evolving service delivery models. Operating within a highly governed capital environment, the position acts as the integration point between Water Services and corporate delivery partners (e.g., Workplace Solutions and Building Infrastructure).

This role ensures space-related capital work is defined, funded, stage-gated, and delivered in alignment with corporate standards, governance requirements, and business priorities. Primary duties include:

  • Plan and coordinate the delivery of space-related capital projects, including upgrades, reconfigurations, and new space concepts. Defines project scope, coordinate schedules, develop cost estimates, and support delivery to ensure projects are executable and aligned with business priorities.
  • Advance projects through the capital approval process by preparing documentation, supporting funding requests, tracking budgets, forecasting expenditures, and identifying risks or variances to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Coordinate with Workplace Solutions, Facilities, and other corporate partners to align roles, support design development, and ensure operational requirements are incorporated into project delivery.
  • Engage business leaders, operational partners, and end users to gather requirements communicate project impacts, manage expectations, and support change activities related to moves and renovations. Identify and manage risks related to cost, schedule, operational continuity, and safety. Monitor issues, implement mitigation strategies, and support quality outcomes in delivered spaces.
Qualifications
  • A diploma in Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, with a focus on capital projects, facilities, space planning, or infrastructure-related initiatives.
  • A project management certification such as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Certified Cost Professional (CCP) will be considered an asset.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency using enterprise systems and MS Office suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), with an advanced level in Excel will be considered an asset.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver’s Licence (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending is required.
  • Experience with building design/development, construction, space planning, operations, and maintenance is an asset.
