We are seeking a Director of Corporate Services to lead the services that keep the Calgary Food Bank running safely, effectively and efficiently. Overseeing facilities, maintenance, health and safety, and information technology, you will ensure that the Calgary Food Bank has the people, processes, and support needed for successful day-to-day operations. The Opportunity

The Director of Corporate Services will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the facilities, maintenance, safety, and internal services that support the Calgary Food Bank’s people, programs, and operations. This role will be responsible for ensuring the organization’s facilities, infrastructure, safety programs, and support services are positioned to meet evolving operational needs and future growth. The Director will provide leadership through periods of organizational change, helping to ensure facilities, systems, and internal services remain effective, efficient, and responsive to the needs of employees, volunteers, partners, and the community.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director of Corporate Services will serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and contribute to the long-term operational sustainability and effectiveness of the organization.

What You’llDoFacilities and Maintenance Leadership:
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all facility operations, maintenance activities, building systems, equipment and related services.
  • Develop and implement long-term facilities, maintenance, and asset management strategies that support organizational priorities and future growth.
  • Lead facilities planning initiatives and support organizational readiness through periods of operational, infrastructure, and organizational change.
  • Oversee preventative and ongoing maintenance programs to ensure facilities remain safe, reliable, efficient, and well-maintained.
  • Manage facility-related budgets, capital investments, vendor relationships, contracts, and service providers.
  • Assess current and future facility requirements and provide recommendations regarding infrastructure improvements, operational priorities, and resource allocation.
Workplace Health and Safety:
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the organization’s workplace health and safety program.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, training, reporting practices, and accountability measures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation, organizational standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead or support workplace health and safety committee activities and promote active participation across the organization.
  • Monitor workplace incidents, investigations, workers’ compensation claims, corrective actions, and safety reporting.
  • Identify and assess workplace hazards and operational risks across facilities, programs, and community-based service locations.
  • Ensure safety considerations are incorporated into the planning, design, transition, and operation of the new facility.
  • Work collaboratively with leaders, employees, volunteers, and external partners to strengthen the organization’s safety culture.
  • Track safety performance and provide timely reporting and recommendations to senior leadership.
