Position: Board of Directors - Board Member for Alberta Crime Stoppers Association

Alberta Crime Stoppers Association is a non‑profit organization dedicated to promoting community safety by facilitating anonymous reporting of crime and providing valuable information to law enforcement agencies. Since its inception, the organization has played a crucial role in crime prevention and solving cases across the province.

Position Overview

The Association is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join its governance board as a Board Director
. The Board provides strategic direction, oversight, and governance to support the organization’s mission and objectives. Directors contribute their expertise, experience, and leadership to advance community safety across Alberta.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the organization.
  • Oversee financial management, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Participate actively in board meetings, committee meetings, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Act as ambassadors for the organization, promoting its mission and values within the community.
  • Monitor organizational performance and impact, ensuring alignment with goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with fellow board members, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.
  • Uphold ethical standards and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
Qualifications
  • Experience serving on a governance board or in a similar leadership role.
  • Strong commitment to community safety and crime prevention.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strategic thinking and sound decision‑making abilities.
  • Knowledge of non‑profit governance practices and principles.
  • Familiarity with the Alberta legal and regulatory environment (asset). Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Time Commitment

Monthly board meetings, plus additional committee meetings and activities as required. Estimated 5–10 hours per month, including meeting attendance and preparation.
