Donor Portfolio Specialist – Prospect Research & Donor Portfolio Specialist (Calgary, Foundation Department)

We seek an experienced professional to support our foundation’s philanthropy strategy and donor engagement at our Calgary base.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with fundraisers and leadership to identify, qualify, and prioritize major gift prospects; develop donor profiles and research briefings; and support creation and optimization of fundraising portfolios.
  • Analyze donor giving trends, engagement, retention, reactivation, and philanthropic potential to identify opportunities to strengthen donor relationships and increase fundraising revenue.
  • Support relationship mapping by identifying connections between donors, volunteers, Board members, and community leaders to advance fundraising objectives.
  • Build and maintain fundraising reports, dashboards and performance metrics to guide strategic decisions across the philanthropic team.
  • Translate donor and fundraising insights into clear, actionable takeaways for non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Nonprofit Management, Library Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • Experience conducting prospect research, donor qualification, wealth screening, or donor intelligence activities.
  • Knowledge of relationship fundraising strategies, donor lifecycle management, and fundraising pipeline development.
  • Proficiency in CRM or donor database systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge NXT, Salesforce, Tessitura, etc.).
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with donor segmentation, forecasting, and data modeling considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with prospect research tools and research resources.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly and compellingly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with a curiosity-driven, continuous improvement mindset.
