Job Description POSITION PURPOSESUMMARY:
The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. The Christmas Kettle Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing the organization and monitoring of Christmas Kettle Campaign activities. They will also ensure adequate staffing is met prior to and during each shift.
Accountabilities- Promote, co-ordinate and oversee kettle locations in Foothills and High River
- Responsible for arranging the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.
- Coordinate the schedule for kettle volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.
- Make rounds at kettle locations to ensure kettle is staffed as per policy.
- Fill in as necessary at kettles to cover breaks or late arrivals, etc.
- Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature, giveaways, etc.
- Assist in counting kettle income daily.
- Responsible for the recruitment, orientation and performance management of kettle workers/volunteers.
- Work alongside kettle workers/volunteers.
- Contact churches, schools, businesses and other organizations to fill volunteer spots on kettles.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers and businesses hosting kettle locations.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer’s information.
- Prepare and send out appropriate Thank You letters to groups and volunteer hours for students.
- Post campaign prepare an overall report on the campaign to be submitted to the CFS Manager and retrieve and store all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations.
- Maintain accurate statistical data using the Kettle System.
Perform other position related duties as required.
- This is a temporary full-time position based on 40 hours per week.
- Kettle Campaign normal hours of operation 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Shifts will include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required
- Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule
- Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
- Travel is associated with this position.
- Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
