Position: Bartender (Spring/Summer Start 2026)

Job Description

Contract Type: Permanent
Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Guest Connection & Beverage Craftsmanship

  • Prepare all beverages (cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic options) to specification with precision and speed.
  • Engage guests with warmth and confidence, offering recommendations and insights on our beverage program and local area.
  • Deliver bar service from order through to payment, ensuring seamless food and drink service at the bar.
  • Pair drinks with dishes confidently, leveraging wine and culinary knowledge.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout service.
  • Complete daily prep, restocking, and bar setup with diligence.
  • Support floor staff during peak times by running drinks and assisting with bar-related service.
  • Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, and reporting as required.
  • Follow all Alberta Health & Safety and Responsible Alcohol Service regulations.

Team & Culture

  • Contribute to a positive, high-performance team culture centered on accountability, respect, and precision.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with all team members—kitchen, bar, and floor.

  • Remain calm and composed in a high-volume, high-pressure environment.
Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Alberta Pro Serve Certification (required).
  • 1+ year bartending experience in a fast-paced, high-volume bar, lounge, or restaurant.
  • Strong technical knowledge of cocktails, beer, spirits, and wine.
  • Familiarity with Micros POS and cash/card transaction handling.
  • Physically able to lift up to 25lbs, stand for long shifts, and work in a fast-paced setting.
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts.

Bonus If You Bring

  • WSET or other formal beverage certifications
  • Prior experience in Banff or Bow Valley hospitality scene
  • Multilingual communication skills
  • A strong interest in beverage trends and innovation

Physical Demands

  • Continuous standing and walking for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, lifting (up to 11lbs regularly, up to 22lbs occasionally)
  • Operating equipment such as shakers, blenders, espresso machines
  • Working in a dynamic, high-noise, social atmosphere
