THE POSITION

The Pastry Cook is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations of the kitchen team including food preparations for the Saddle room Grill. The role requires a strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards and protocols as this role will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment. The Pastry cook will have the ability to put help with menu development as the menu changes every week.

This is an opportunity to work with award winning chefs with Michelin star experience with a frequently changing menu. Free meal every shift included.

KEY

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Daily Baking, Pastry, Preparation in the saddle room grill
  • Prepare hot plates, cold plates, sauces, pastries, bread, ice cream and other desserts.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and use of food inventories;
  • Maintain a high standard of safety and sanitation as governed by standards and protocols;
  • Communicate with kitchen staff, cooks, sous chefs, and the executive chef;
  • Follow instructions as directed by supervisors, sous chefs, and the executive chef;
  • Attend any buffets, events when necessary
  • Actively participate in safety programs and follow polices;
  • Other duties as assigned.
THE INDIVIDUAL

The ideal candidate will have the following background:

  • 5+ years restaurant or hotel pastry experience required;
  • 3-5 Years Hotel/Restaurant experience as a 1st cook or completion of a culinary apprenticeship program, with all round knowledge of the kitchen operation;
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required;
  • Culinary Education Trade papers;
  • Food Safety & Sanitation Certificate;
  • Valid Alberta Basic Food Safety Certification;
  • Related work experience;
  • High attention to detail and strong ability to maintain an organized kitchen;
  • A positive attitude and eye for detail and appearance

Please note, this position is based on the event schedule in a fast paced environment, with emphasis on evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Shift lengths vary, and require flexible working times.

This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
