I am looking for a dynamic, energetic, and outgoing sales person to join my team at Business in Calgary magazine. Ideally, you have experience in either direct to consumer and B2B sales, want to make money, and aren't scared of a little hard work.
This role requires relationship building. You won't be sitting at a desk all day, everyday. It isn't just phone calls, emails and Linked In messages. It's meetings over coffees and lunches, it's awards galas and anniversary celebrations, it's sitting down with Calgary's CEOs, presidents, owners and founders. You become the face of the magazine to Calgary's thriving corporate ecosystem.
You will receive accounts to manage upon starting, with the opportunity to add clients as your product knowledge and skills grow. No knowledge of Calgary's corporate landscape? Never been inside a downtown office building? No problem! You will have the opportunity to shadow senior sales people until you're ready to set out on your own.
Base salary plus uncapped commission. Parking spot and athletic club membership included.
Qualifications- Proven experience in advertising, media, or B2B sales, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Strong prospecting, cold-calling, and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage decision‑makers across a range of industries.
- Ability to understand and present print and digital advertising solutions, including campaign packaging, pricing, and value propositions.
- Solid negotiation, presentation, and closing skills, with comfort leading client meetings in person and virtually.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional email, proposal writing, and client correspondence.
- Well‑organized and self‑motivated, with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines.
- Proficiency with common office and CRM tools (e.g., MS Office or Google Workspace, sales or contact management software).
- Comfort attending local business events, networking functions, and client meetings across Calgary as part of regular duties.
- Knowledge of the Calgary business community or prior experience in regional publishing, media, or marketing is an asset.
- Post‑secondary education in business, marketing, communications, or a related field is an asset, or equivalent work experience.
