Mancal Energy Inc. (MEI) is looking for an enthusiastic and driven Summer Student to support geological mapping and data compilation for the 2026 summer season. This internship offers the chance to gain valuable hands‑on experience in geological mapping, data analysis, and applying geological techniques to real-world energy sector projects. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with MEI’s Geoscience Team on mapping project in one of MEI’s Core Areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Geological Mapping – Core Areas (Marker Beds):
    • Support top-picking and strati graphic mapping of 2-3 marker beds across MEI’s Core Areas.
    • Work alongside the Geoscience Team to produce accurate and representative geological maps.
  • Geological Mapping Project :
    • Conduct top-picking for strati graphic mapping.
    • Contribute to identifying net pay for volumetric mapping.
    • Collaborate with the Geoscience Team to compile and refine geological maps for the region.
    • If possible, assist in identifying potential recompletion candidates and drill locations.
  • Data Review and Compilation:
    • Assist in compiling geological tops data into a central database.
    • Review well log availability within MEI Core Areas and identify gaps in LAS (Log ASCII Standard) data.
    • Maintain a record of missing LAS curves and assist in ordering them as needed to complete geological datasets for analysis and mapping.
  • Final Presentation
    • Compile work for presentation to the technical team at the end of the Summer
  • Required Skills and Qualifications:
    • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
    • Familiarity with geological mapping techniques and fundamental geoscience principles.
    • Experience with GeoSCOUT software is an asset.
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and organize data effectively.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Basic knowledge of LAS well log data and geological data interpretation is a plus but not required.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
