As a Soils Summer Student
, you will join our Calgary or Edmonton
, Alberta offices as part of our Soils team for a 4 or 8‑month term starting May 2026
. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of soil, vegetation and wetlands projects with responsibilities as follows:

• Active participation in maintaining Montrose’s strong safety culture.
• Assist with the execution of soils and vegetation surveys.
• Assist with field survey data collection.
• Travel, often to remote locations, will be required to carry out field programs.

• Must be enrolled in terrestrial ecology, biology, environmental science, renewable resource management or similar technical or undergraduate program at a recognized post‑secondary institution.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• A valid class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Experience with off‑highway vehicles (e.g., ARGO, UTV) and trailer towing would be considered an asset.
• Shows care about safety and the safety of others.
• Brings knowledge of terrestrial sciences and assessment practices.
• Works easily in a team.
• Is thoughtful, thorough and inquisitive in completing office and field tasks.
• Has energy and desire to support others and respond to the changing needs of a dynamic environment.

This is a seasonal position with an hourly rate range of $23.00–$27.00, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
