As a
** Vegetation Summer Student,
** you will join our
** Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta
** offices as part of our Vegetation & Soils team for a
** 4 or 8-month term
** starting
** May 2026**. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of soil, vegetation and wetlands projects with responsibilities as follows:
* Active participation in maintaining Montrose’s strong safety culture
* Assist with the execution of soils and vegetation surveys
* Assist with field survey data collection
* Travel, often to remote locations, will be required to carry out field programs.
** What We Are Looking For
*** Must be enrolled in terrestrial ecology, biology, environmental science, renewable resource management or similar technical or undergraduate program at a recognized post-secondary institution
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* A valid class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions.
* Experience with off-highway vehicles (i.e., ARGO, UTV) and trailer towing would be considered an asset
* Cares about their safety and the safety of others
* Brings knowledge of terrestrial sciences and assessment practices
* Works easily in a team
* Is thoughtful, thorough and inquisitive in completing office and field tasks
* Has energy and desire to support others and respond to the changing needs of a dynamic environment

At Montrose you will be part of an amazing community of collaborative people who live shared mission and principles and bring industry-leading technical expertise to their work every day. This is a seasonal position with a hourly rate range of $23.00-$27.00, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
