About the Opportunity

The Environmental Planner will play a crucial role in supporting project management teams and guiding the development of sustainable projects. You will be integral to the planning, permitting, and compliance phases, helping to shape environmentally responsible projects that meet regulatory standards.

This position combines office‑based planning (70%) with occasional fieldwork (30%) to ensure effective project oversight and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop environmental plans and strategies for various projects
  • Prepare regulatory applications and permitting documents
  • Conduct site assessments and identify potential environmental impacts
  • Coordinate environmental assessments, including wildlife, vegetation, and habitat evaluations
  • Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams
  • Communicate with stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and community members
  • Analyze data to support mitigation planning and compliance measures
  • Create detailed technical reports and presentations
  • Stay current with environmental legislation and industry standards
Skills and Qualifications We Seek
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with environmental planning, permitting, and regulatory processes
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations
  • Experience in land use planning, environmental assessments, and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with clients, regulators, and team members
  • Knowledge of AER One Stop and Public Land Act regulations (asset)
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping and environmental data analysis (asset)
  • Eligibility for Alberta’s Professional Regulatory Organizations
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements
  • Valid driver’s license
