Calgary Environmental Biologist

Position: Calgary Environmental Biologist Needed
McElhanney is seeking an Environmental Biologist based in Calgary, Alberta. This full-time role involves executing environmental projects, conducting assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will complete comprehensive environmental studies and lead baseline assessments for wildlife in project areas. You'll develop solutions for environmental impacts and direct junior staff in compliance and reporting tasks. This is an opportunity to engage with diverse stakeholders, including First Nations and government agencies, throughout project life cycles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct environmental studies from proposal to data reporting

• Implement wildlife and fisheries baseline assessments

• Evaluate environmental impacts and design mitigation measures

• Coordinate regulatory permitting and compliance tasks

• Mentor junior team members on environmental practices

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or master’s in Biology, Ecological Restoration

• 5–10+ years of relevant experience in Alberta

• Strong knowledge of permitting and ecological assessments

• Experience with GIS and environmental monitoring

• Willingness to work in diverse field conditions
