Role Overview
We invite you to join our biophysical team as an Intermediate to Senior Vegetation and Wetland Ecologist, engaging in a wide variety of multi‑disciplinary projects for long‑term clients across many market sectors throughout Canada. Our team works closely with geoscientists and engineers to deliver environmental and regulatory support.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize your knowledge of vegetation community and wetland characterization, impact and effects assessments, mitigation management, and habitat reclamation to obtain regulatory permits and approvals.
- Collaborate with professionals across multiple disciplines to plan projects, implement environmentally sustainable and innovative designs, manage contractors, and coordinate with regulatory agencies.
- Serve as the subject matter expert providing high‑value technical services to develop positive relationships with key clients, both internal and external.
- Plan and execute field programs in local and remote sites.
- Prepare and review technical reports.
- Develop project proposals and budgets.
- Participate in global environmental social governance, joint health and safety, or a local social committee.
- Travel throughout Canada.
If you have 6 or more years of applicable experience conducting environmental assessments, hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree specializing in Soil Science, Botany, Ecology, Biology or Environmental Sciences, and have a solid understanding of vegetation ecology and wetland science, we want to connect with you. Registration or eligibility for P.Biol. or P.Ag. and certification as an Authenticating Wetland Professional are also required.

- Superb verbal and written communication skills, including experience writing proposals, technical reports and project correspondence.
- Experience planning, leading, and conducting vegetation and wetland surveys.
- Understanding and experience with the Alberta Wetland Policy and wetland classifications.
- Proven taxonomic vegetation identification skills — wetland indicators, rare plants, native plants, and introduced/weed species.
- Knowledge and experience with Ecological Land Classification systems and spatial datasets such as the Alberta Vegetation Inventory.
- Ability to prepare and digitize ELC mapping and wetland boundaries by interpreting digital imagery and field data.
- Working knowledge of the Canadian System of Soil Classification and AGRASID.
- Strong understanding of provincial and federal regulatory legislation, guidelines, and regulations.
- Reclamation, restoration, or bioengineering experience.
- Experience and knowledge in various market sectors including water resources, mining, infrastructure, and transportation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and GIS/data management.
- Participation in industry technical and professional associations.
