We are seeking an Intermediate Soil Management Specialist to support environmental assessment, remediation, reclamation, and construction projects through soil characterization, field oversight, data analysis, and regulatory compliance activities. Working alongside senior specialists and project managers, the successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of soil management strategies while gaining opportunities for technical growth and increasing project responsibility.

Location - Calgary, AB.

Your role

Conduct soil characterization and sampling programs, including coordinating laboratory analyses, interpreting soil quality data, and compiling and evaluating field and laboratory results. Monitor and support soil handling, stockpiling, excavation, transportation, and soil tracking activities, including volume estimation programs and implementation of Soil Management Plans and site-specific procedures. Assist with soil quality assessments, beneficial reuse evaluations, and environmental site assessment, remediation, and reclamation projects.

Oversee contractors and field crews during soil-related activities, ensuring adherence to project requirements, company safety procedures, and regulatory standards. Prepare technical reports, figures, tables, regulatory documentation, environmental permit applications, and regulatory submissions. Assist project managers with scheduling, budgeting, project coordination, and delivering high-quality project outcomes that meet established deadlines. Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, hazard assessments, and safety planning while applying provincial and federal soil management regulations and promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.

About

you

Diploma or Degree in a relevant discipline such as Soil Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Agriculture, Geology, or a related field. Eligibility for professional designation is considered an asset. 5+ years of progressive experience supporting Excess Soil Management Plans, soil tracking, and soil movement documentation is considered an asset. Experience using environmental databases, spreadsheets, and data management tools, with working knowledge of soil classification and characterization techniques to support soil assessment, analysis, and reporting activities.

Familiarity with provincial soil quality guidelines, environmental regulations, and applicable Canadian regulatory frameworks, including knowledge of excess soil management principles and soil reuse programs, which is considered an asset. Willing Willingness to travel to field locations as required. Candidates must possess a Valid Class 5 Full driver’s license with a clean driving record.
