About this opportunityThis role provides a tremendous opportunity to contribute meaningful, value-add Geoscience work to Cenovus while working in an engaging and inclusive team environment. We are seeking candidates with strong communication and organizational abilities, and good interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has a steadfast desire to learn and gain new practical skills in Geophysics.

The responsibilities of the position will vary depending on the business unit.
Students are assigned projects that fulfill a business need and will be working under the direct supervision of a Geophysicist.
Tasks can include seismic interpretation, log interpretation, mapping, inversion, and data analysis.
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
Available to begin work in May 2027
Troubleshooting knowledge and problem-solving skills.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Computer competence (MS Office) is essential, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
Exposure to subsurface interpretation and mapping software such as Petrel, Seisware, Hampson Russell or Accumap is considered an asset.
Exposure to data analytics software is not required but considered favourably (e.g. Python, Matlab, R).
Previous experience or exposure to oil and gas would be considered an asset, either in the office or in the field.
Strong demeanor for carrying out all work in a safe, cautious manner while following safe work practices.
Must be enrolled in a Geo
physics-focused Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work termOR registered in an accredited post-secondary co‑op or internship program for the duration of the work term.Candidates currently enrolled in either a Master’s or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.
New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
A multi-discipline program with meaningful, hands‑on work experience
Networking events coordinated by the New Grad Committee including group mentoring from senior/executive leaders, lunch ‘n learns, guest speakers, technical presentations, and holiday celebrations.
Wide support network including direct leaders, program leads, human resource, peers, mentor(s), New Grad Committee, and buddy.
Structured goal setting and performance evaluations.
Opportunity to present work-term learnings to the Cenovus Leadership team.
Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum relocation payment to assist with relocation expenses.
Candidates must have their own means of transportation as there is no public transportation in field locations.
New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
