Job Overview:
Grizzly Trek is currently seeking one Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our valued client’s team in Calgary, Alberta.

This full-time position is offered as an Indigenous career opportunity and is ideally suited to an individual interested in beginning or advancing a career in the heavy duty mechanical trade.

The role provides hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to a wide range of heavy equipment in a safety-focused industrial environment.

Responsibilities:
Assist journeyperson mechanics with inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy duty equipment Perform routine servicing including lubrication, fluid changes, and component replacement Support diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with site standards Complete work orders, service reports, and maintenance documentation accurately Follow all site safety procedures, job hazard assessments, and manufacturer guidelines

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent Indigenous ancestry (self-identified) Registered apprentice or demonstrated interest in pursuing a Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship Valid driver’s license Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working with heavy duty equipment, automotive, or mechanical systems Prior shop, field, or industrial work experience Familiarity with basic hand tools and shop equipment Work Environment:
Industrial shop and field-based work environments Exposure to heavy equipment, tools, and mechanical systems Work conducted in accordance with strict safety and PPE requirements Benefits:
