JT Equipment is a fast paced and growing equipment solutions provider. We are currently seeking a Lead Hand for our Service Shop.

This position provides hands‑on technical expertise, coordinates shop activities, mentors technicians and apprentices, and ensures work is performed safely, on time and to high quality standards. The Lead Hand serves as the first point of contact for the service team on the floor and bridges communication between management and technicians.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Support the Shop Manager in assigning and tracking repair jobs.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to apprentices and journeymen.
  • Troubleshoot, perform diagnostics, and complete heavy equipment repairs.
  • Ensure quality control, safe work practices, and compliance with OH&S standards.
  • Communicate job status updates and parts needs with the Service and Parts teams.
  • Promote a positive, efficient work environment and support continuous improvement.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment repair, including strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy for repair software, OEM programs, and shop management systems.

This position is based in and around Calgary, AB (T3S 0A1). You will be required to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
