Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Installation Technician, Field/Service Technician
As a Service Technician, you will report to the Director of Operations. You will support installation, commissioning, optimization, and service of high-purity process water treatment systems.
This position combines advanced troubleshooting, technical leadership, and hands‑on fieldwork. You will work closely with the service, project, design, and fabrication teams to ensure systems are installed correctly, perform as intended, and meet CWT’s quality standards.
Responsibilities- Install and commission new process water treatment systems under the direction of the Service or Project Manager, including testing, documentation, startup, and optimization.
- Troubleshoot and service process water treatment systems, including carbon and media filtration, cartridge filtration, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, heat and UV sanitization, and chlorination systems.
- Perform detailed field assessments of process water treatment systems from any vendor. Analyze system operation, identify deficiencies, prioritize repairs or refurbishments, and clearly communicate risks and recommended improvements.
- Maintain and support PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), including software upgrades, troubleshooting, bug reporting, verification of fixes, and implementation of feature improvements.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), including point‑to‑point checks, instrument calibration and verification, PLC configuration review, and documentation.
- Support shop floor operations as required, including electro‑mechanical assembly, control panel wiring, testing, and quality control processes.
- Calibrate, deploy, and verify analytical instrumentation and review test results.
- Provide structured feedback to management and the design team to improve equipment performance, documentation, and service delivery methods.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation in accordance with CWT quality management systems.
- Follow all company policies, safety standards, and site‑specific requirements.
- Participate in after‑hours calls, weekend work, and short‑term travel as required.
- Experience troubleshooting process water treatment equipment.
- Experience with dialysis process water treatment equipment.
- Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician, Electrician, or Plumber (multi‑ticket preferred), or a four (4) year degree in Mechanical or Instrumentation Engineering Technology with relevant field experience.
- Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and architectural, mechanical, and electrical construction drawings.
- Experience with pumps, drives, motors, controls, filtration systems, and membrane processes.
- Experience with quality management systems with strict QC, traceability, and documentation requirements.
- Experience conducting FAT and working within structured records management systems.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Ability to analyze systems from first principles and make sound technical recommendations.
- Organized and systematic approach to troubleshooting and documentation.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Leadership skills and the ability to represent field experience in technical discussions.
- Persistence to see tasks through to completion.
- Comfortable performing detailed work with accuracy and minimizing callbacks.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Google Calendar. Solid Works experience is an asset.
- Some heavy lifting as required.
- Short term travel (typically up to one week) to job sites is a condition of hire (Western Canada) and will occur on an as needed basis.
- Alcohol and drug testing is required on some sites and is a condition of hire.
- Drivers Abstract is required, and confirmation of insurability required.
- Technical /Trade School or Equivalent Experience Required.
- Police Criminal records check may be required.
