This is a full‑time, on‑site Irrigation Technician role based in Calgary, AB. The Irrigation Technician will install, start up, maintain, repair, and winterize underground sprinkler and irrigation systems for residential and commercial properties. Daily tasks include troubleshooting system issues, replacing or adjusting components such as heads, valves, and controllers, and performing seasonal services including spring start‑ups and fall blowouts. The role involves working with various irrigation products and controllers, reading site plans, and ensuring systems are efficient, compliant, and properly tested.
The Irrigation Technician will interact directly with customers, provide clear explanations of work performed, and maintain accurate service records while adhering to company safety and quality standards.
- Strong irrigation skills, including installation, repair, winterization, and system optimization.
- Experience with landscape maintenance practices related to irrigation, such as turf and plant water needs.
- Effective communication skills to interact with customers, team members, and supervisors in a clear and professional manner.
- Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and controller‑related irrigation issues efficiently.
- Supervisory skills or the ability to lead small crews on job sites when required.
- Familiarity with major irrigation brands (e.g., Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro) and controllers is an asset.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions and lift equipment as needed.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Previous experience in irrigation, landscaping, or a related field preferred; relevant trade certificates or backflow testing experience are considered an asset. Strong attention to detail, time management, and commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
