Weare hiring for a Skilled Laborer Responsibilities
- Able to read construction plans
- When required and appropriately licensed, drive or operate construction equipment used on the jobsite to complete daily work assignments
- Assist in the loading/unloading of equipment and supplies, including, but not limited to, cables and multiport
- Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use
- Fully set up worksite, including setting up flagging, opening manholes or services boxes, operating hydrovac to clean service boxes and/or manholes, and using gas detectors to assess and ensure gas readings are adequate prior to entering manholes
- Clean, test, and purge manholes prior to entering; complete roping and rodding and full circuit of runs
- Hand pull short run cables or alternatively use hydraulically driven tuggers for long run cables
- Place yellow spiral wrap on cable for identification of fiber optic cable
- Complete all necessary paperwork associated with redline drawings and production reports for submission to clients
- Complete timesheets that are both accurate and timely
- Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential
- Enhance the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment
- Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
- Detail oriented – accuracy is required
- Independent – ability to work well under limited supervision

- Interpersonal skills – ability to work well on a team
- 1+ year of construction experience
- Capable of working in all temperatures and climates and in confined spaces
- Ability to travel to various site‑based projects if required

Shift work - Traveling is required
- High School Diploma
- Valid Class 1, 3 or 5 Driver’s License
- Certifications & Licenses not required but preferred
- Previous telecommunication experience is an asset
