Skilled Labourer

• Able to read construction plans
• When required and appropriately licensed, drive or operate construction equipment used on the jobsite to complete daily work assignments
• Assist in the loading/unloading of equipment and supplies, including, but not limited to, cables and multiport
• Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use
• Fully set up worksite, including setting up flagging, opening manholes or services boxes, operating hydrovac to clean service boxes and/or manholes, and using gas detectors to assess and ensure gas readings are adequate prior to entering manholes
• Clean, test, and purge manholes prior to entering; complete roping and rodding and full circuit of runs
• Hand pull short run cables or alternatively use hydraulically driven tuggers for long run cables
• Place yellow spiral wrap on cable for identification of fiber optic cable
• Complete all necessary paperwork associated with redline drawings and production reports for submission to clients
• Complete timesheets that are both accurate and timely
• Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential
• Enhance the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment
• Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

• 1+ year of construction experience
• Capable of working in all temperatures and climates and in confined spaces
• Ability to travel to various site‑based projects if required

• High School Diploma
• Valid Class 1, 3 or 5 Driver’s License
• Certifications & Licenses not required but preferred
• Previous telecommunication experience is an asset
