SMS Equipment is hiring a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician to support our construction equipment operations. In this role, you’ll put your expertise to work diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment. Base Wage
: $52.21 per hour. Additional premiums may apply.
Location: Calgary, AB
Schedule: 5x2 shift rotation

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment using advanced troubleshooting tools
• Perform assemblies, preventative maintenance, and equipment overhauls
• Complete accurate service reports, timecards, and maintenance documentation
• Safely lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces as required

The successful candidate will be a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (off-road). Other requirements include:

• Proven shop and/or field experience with heavy equipment repairs and diagnostics
• A strong commitment to safety and clear, professional communication skills
• Red Seal certification and experience with Komatsu equipment are considered strong assets
• Willingness to travel and meet customer site access requirements
• Valid Class 5/G driver’s license

This position is classified as an Individual Contributor
role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).
