Elevate your career with the Government of Yukon as an Automotive Mechanic in Whitehorse. This term position focuses on the maintenance and repair of various vehicles and equipment, ensuring reliable transportation services.
In this full-time role with the Transportation Maintenance Garage Ops Shop, you will handle both gas and diesel vehicles along with small engines, performing diagnosis, service, and preventative maintenance. Strong adaptability to changing priorities will be beneficial for success in this high-impact position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Diagnose light and medium-duty automotive vehicles
• Perform repairs on small engines and machinery
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections
• Work outdoors under various weather conditions
• Collaborate with apprentice mechanics for skill development
Requirements:
• Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent
• Commercial Vehicle Inspection certificate (to be obtained)
• WHMIS certification (to be acquired)
• Capacity to work at heights and lift heavy objects
• Safety-oriented mindset with a focus on quality
