Position Summary

Are you good with your hands, have a knack for all things technical? Join Johnston Equipment as a Road Service Technician. As the Road Service Technician, you will be conducting maintenance checks and diagnosing repairs for lift trucks and carousels at customer sites.

Responsibilities
  • Examine overall operational integrity and condition of the trucks.
  • Find defective or worn out mechanical or electrical parts then communicate and execute next steps for repair solutions to the customer.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Diagnose and order parts according to technical manuals.
  • Document and analyze breakdowns based on standard procedures.
  • Act as the front line contact between GNJ and the customer, comfortable with client contact and technical tasks.
Qualifications
  • High school completion or equivalent education proficiency and/or minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician or equivalent related experience.
  • Automotive Certification (310S) or Heavy Duty Technician Certification (421A) an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems of battery and engine powered material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of the use of hand tools, measuring devices, and electrical/electronic diagnostic tools and measurements.
  • Experience with industrial equipment that involves lifting / rigging, maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial mechanical service equipment.
  • Experience aligning above equipment, using dial indicators/calipers, micrometers, hoists or jacks is a plus.
  • Able to interpret and implement technical procedures.
  • Solid knowledge of general Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Additional Qualifications Education
  • Lift Capacity Inspection Technician Certificate – an asset.
  • Automotive Technician Certificate or Designation preferred or required.
  • High School – required.
