Position Details

Nason Contracting Group Ltd. is currently seeking Electical and Instrumentation Technicians for short term work at our Compost project in Calgary, AB.

  • Schedule:

    Monday - Friday

  • Note:

    This scope is 3-4 weeks of work.
What You Will Be Working On

The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems on industrial, commercial, and energy projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary construction and maintenance environment.

  • Install, terminate, test, commission, and maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Install and calibrate field instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level devices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution systems, motors, control panels, PLCs, transmitters, and related equipment.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, loop drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
  • Perform instrument calibration, configuration, and functional testing.
  • Assist with equipment commissioning, start-up, shutdown, and maintenance activities.
  • Conduct inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on electrical and instrumentation assets.
  • Complete quality documentation, calibration reports, turnover packages, and maintenance records.
  • Coordinate work activities with supervisors, operations personnel, and other trades.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and calibration devices safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in daily FLRAs, toolbox meetings, and site safety initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Comply with all project specifications, company policies, and OH&S legislation.
What We Are Looking For
  • Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician Certificate, Journeyperson Electrician Certificate, or Red Seal endorsement.
  • Previous experience working on industrial construction, turnaround, maintenance, commissioning, or oil and gas projects.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation equipment, process controls, and industrial maintenance practices.
  • Experience with PLCs, motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), analyzers, and control systems is considered an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of safe work practices around energized systems and process equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and safety.

  • Elevated Work Platform (EWP) (preferred)
  • Confined Space Entry & Monitor (preferred)
  • Valid Driver's License
