The Supervisor plays a critical role in aligning daily drilling activities with mine plans while driving continuous improvement in safety, productivity, and operational reliability. This position requires strong safety leadership, effective communication, decision-making under pressure, and the ability to lead teams in a dynamic operational setting. • Ensure compliance with O&G AER regulations (e.g., Directive 36) and environmental requirements.
    • Conduct daily structured safety observations and promote hazard identification and near‑miss reporting.
    • Ensure PPE compliance, safe work procedures, and adherence to permitting systems (e.g., working at heights, energy isolation).
    • Oversee and participate in safety, operational, environmental, and ERP drills at required frequencies.
    • Assume leadership during incidents as the senior on‑site representative until additional support arrives.
  • Operational Execution & Field Leadership
    • Spend the majority of time in the field monitoring rig operations and providing guidance.
    • Supervise rig‑up and rig‑down activities and monitor contractor performance.

    • Validate rig move routes, ensuring safety and suitability of locations.
    • Visit and verify future drilling locations well in advance.
    • Ensure alignment with drilling plans through daily coordination with Drilling Coordinators and Rig Managers.
    • Monitor and report on operational performance, including NPT tracking in Wellsite Masters (WSM).
    • Review and sign off on tour sheets and contractor‑generated operational reports.
  • Coordination & Communication
    • Interface with engineering and geology teams to understand well objectives and requirements.
    • Communicate all unplanned events to Drilling Coordinators and ensure resolution (e.g., through After‑Action Reviews).
    • Provide feedback on operational deficiencies and required actions.
    • Maintain real‑time engagement with Kearl Mapping (ArcGIS) and adherence to access readiness protocols.
    • Coordinate with contractors to ensure adequate supply of materials (casing, fuel, additives, etc.).
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation
    • Identify opportunities to improve drilling efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Promote new technologies, processes, and best practices in drilling operations.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
