Position: Pipefitter-Days

Pipefitter Job Description

This role is part of a dedicated pipe fitting team responsible for assembling, installing, and testing industrial piping systems in a modern manufacturing facility. You will work with process spools, threaded and socket weld pipe, and automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality installations. The position is hands-on and field-focused, with opportunities to support other trades and contribute to various tasks across the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble and install process spools and piping systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Fit and install threaded and socket weld pipe according to P&IDs.

  • Set major components in place and perform bolt-up activities to secure piping and related equipment.

  • Cut and thread pipes using cutting torches, pipe threaders, and a variety of power and hand tools.

  • Install automatic controls and related components used to regulate and monitor pipe systems.

  • Interpret and apply blueprint drawings and P&IDs to ensure accurate assembly and installation.

  • Perform hydrotesting and other pressure tests to verify the integrity and performance of piping systems.

  • Troubleshoot piping issues and assist with corrective actions to maintain safe and reliable operations.

  • Support fabrication and installation activities for industrial piping, fittings, and plumbing as required.

  • Use overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment safely to move and position heavy components.

  • Maintain and use personal tools appropriately to complete pipe fitting tasks efficiently.

  • Assist other tradespeople and perform occasional general tasks and odd jobs around the facility as needed.

  • Follow all safety procedures, facility guidelines, and quality standards throughout daily work.

Essential Skills
  • 3rd year pipe fitting apprentice or higher, or equivalent pipe fitting experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing facility environment.

  • Strong pipe fitting skills, including assembly, bolt-up, spooling, and installation of industrial piping systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and P&IDs accurately.

  • Hands-on experience with compression systems and process piping.

  • Proficiency in using cutting torches, pipe threaders, power tools, and hand tools for cutting and threading pipe.

  • Experience with hydrotesting and pressure testing of piping systems.

  • Experience in industrial piping, fittings, and plumbing installations.

  • Experience operating overhead cranes in an industrial setting.

  • Capability to troubleshoot piping and assembly issues and implement practical solutions.

  • Ownership and effective use of personal tools required for pipe fitting work.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in industrial fabrication and installation of piping systems.

  • Exposure to oil and gas process piping or similar heavy industrial environments.

  • Comfort working with automatic controls and instrumentation associated with piping systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Work Environment

The role is based in a modern manufacturing facility in an industrial area, focused on compression and process piping for oil and gas applications. Work is performed primarily in a shop environment with access to state-of-the-art equipment and tools, including overhead cranes and specialized pipe fitting tools.
