About Us  HSS Design Build is a growing design and construction company based in Canmore, Alberta. We focus on energy-efficient and sustainable buildings, using Passive House and European construction methods. Our goal is to help make building design and construction in the Bow Valley and beyond more sustainable.
About the Role  We are looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our team. You’ll work on a variety of projects in the Bow Valley — mostly in Canmore — including energy-efficient retrofits and new construction.

This role offers opportunities to grow, work with skilled tradespeople, and learn about Passive House building practices.
What You’ll Do   Build and install components for energy-efficient retrofits and new builds.
Help with demolition and site preparation.
Complete framing and timber framing work.
Install siding, exterior insulation, windows, and doors.
Build decks, stairs, and railings.
Do interior finishing work such as trim, flooring, or built-ins.
Work safely on-site and maintain a clean work area.
Follow instructions, meet deadlines, and take pride in quality work.
What We’re Looking For   Carpentry experience.
Ability to read blueprints, construction details, and shop drawings.
Comfortable working independently or under supervision.
Professional, motivated, and focused on safety.
Interest in sustainable building and Passive House construction.
Requirements   Valid Alberta driver’s license and own transportation.
Own tools and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
First Aid, Fall Protection, Red Seal, or Carpenter Certificates are assets.
Must be legally able to work in Canada.
