Winter Maintenance Operations Foreperson

Lead winter maintenance operations in Red Deer by coordinating crews, materials, and equipment for safe, reliable pedestrian routes.
The Roads Labour Foreperson I supports The City of Red Deer’s Pedestrian Mobility Team during snow and ice control activities. This temporary full-time position directs daily assignments, monitors field operations, and ensures work meets established schedules, specifications, service levels, and standards. Accurate documentation remains central.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead crews through daily winter maintenance assignments
Provide training, direction, encouragement, and productivity monitoring
Inspect sites and address operational or safety concerns
Control winter material supplies, inventory, and usage
Implement traffic and pedestrian control measures
Requirements:
Grade 12 or equivalent
Two years’ experience in related activities or equivalent
Ability to organize personnel and equipment
Ability to communicate clearly with crew members
Ability to exert moderate physical effort
Bring crew leadership, winter operations coordination, and practical field judgment to The City of Red Deer’s pedestrian mobility services.
