Lead water utility field operations in Calgary by solving complex site conditions and coordinating safe, compliant system maintenance. Work primarily outdoors.
The City of Calgary seeks a Senior Operator to serve as a field expert for drinking water distribution and transmission. You will determine actions for work affecting water quality or public health. The position combines technical operations, crew coordination, coaching, and system improvement feedback.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze complex activities and determine appropriate courses of action
- Plan shutdown, bypass, maintenance, and return-to-service activities
- Monitor system work and provide process improvement feedback
- Oversee Intermediate Operators, Junior Operators, and Utility Workers
- Report crew performance and development to supervisors
- Six or more years of progressively responsible water utility experience
- Level 2 Water Distribution Operator Certification or equivalent
- Experience with pressure tests, fire flow tests, and PRVs
- Experience with disinfection and chlorine concentration calculations
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and required driving record
