What we need:The Sr Director Safetyisa senior-level leader responsible for leading the developmentandimplementation of comprehensive safety strategies to create and maintain a safe working environment for employees. This role collaborates with leadership teams, regulatory bodies, and employees to ensure compliance with safety standards.
What you’ll do:- Provide strategic leadership and guidance on safety initiatives.
- Develop and execute the organization's safety strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.
- Stay abreast of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Ensure organizational compliance with all applicable safety laws and standards.
- Design, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs and policies.
- Continuously assess and enhance safety programs to address emerging risks and trends.
- Ensure that training materials are current and effective in promoting safety awareness.
- Lead and oversee investigations of workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
- Analyze data to identify trends and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Develop and manage the safety budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
- Regularly interact with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning functional areas.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related fieldor equivalent education and/or experience.
- 12+years’ relevant experienceor equivalent education and/or experience.
- 7+years of management experience.
- Safety training and certificates are preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety disciplines, other regulatory guidelines, and common industrial safety practices.
- Holistic, integrated understanding of organizational context.
- Solid understanding of people management strategies and how to develop team members into successful leaders.
- Begins leading through other leaders, instead of setting operational approach.
- Able to lead and support their function while achieving impact and improvements across all functional areas.
- Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations while preserving relationships.
- Focused on and responsible for their team's productivity and collective impact.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, delegate, and manage time effectively.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
- High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.
- This employee will be responsible for direct reports.
- Occasional travel is required.
- This role may work in classrooms, offices, and high-traffic production floors.
