The job of Teacher is to facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, activities, outcomes; addressing specific educational needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding progress, expectations, goals.
- Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress to support teacher expectations and improve classroom goals at home.
- Assess student progress, expectations, goals and provide feedback to students, parents and administration.
- Assist other teachers in implementing curriculum.
- Collaborate with school personnel, parents and community agencies to improve student outcomes, develop solutions and plan curriculum.
- Demonstrate methods required to perform assignments for an effective school program and address student needs.
- Direct student workers, volunteers, etc., to maximize their efficiency and meet work requirements.
- Facilitate student learning to achieve success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills via a defined course of study.
- Monitor student activities (classroom, lunch, grounds, etc.) to ensure safety and welfare.
- Participate in meetings to convey and gather required information.
- Perform related duties assigned by the supervisor to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.
- Prepare teaching materials and related reports (grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for lesson plans and student progress documentation.
- Report incidents (fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) to maintain student safety and a positive learning environment while adhering to Education Code and policies.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and appropriate certification through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. The Gordon County School District reserves the right to accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
SalaryState base pay plus local supplement based on years of experience and degree. 183 Days.
